Tullibardine, one of Scotland’s oldest brewers and distillers, is located in Blackford, the gateway to the Highlands. In 1488, King James IV made the first public purchase of beer here on his way to his coronation. The brewery received its first Royal Charter in 1503 for its exceptional beer.
The distillery benefits from fresh spring water sourced from the nearby Ochil Hills, which took 15 years to reach the Danny Burn spring, also used by Highland Spring.
In 1947, William Delme Evans converted the brewery into a distillery, and two years later, Tullibardine Distillery was born. The name, meaning “lookout hill” in Gaelic, refers to a medieval chapel built in 1446 nearby.
In 2011, Tullibardine was acquired by an independent family company, ensuring its continued success.
