El Ron Prohibido Rum Habanero’ comes from the Spanish language and means ‘The forbidden rum’.

This is because around the year 1700 Chinguirito Rum (= distillate from cultivated sugar cane from Mexico, which was shipped to Spain and stored in sherry barrels) became very popular and of course the traditional rum producers did not like it.

Without further ado, the royal house banned the Chinguirito (also called Habanero).

Only the best sugar cane from Veracruz is used for the El Ron Prohibido 22

The number ’22’ in this rum does not stand for the duration of the maturing period but for the 22 American oak barrels used.

The Solera production process is decisive for the dark golden colour and the light and soft character.
