The 2019 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur unwinds in the glass with scents of crisp green orchard fruit, fresh bread, iodine and dried white flowers. Full-bodied, satiny and layered, it’s deep and concentrated, with racy acids, chalky structuring dry extract and a long, saline finish. This is another serious, built-to-age bottling from Droin. Light yellow colour, deep white fruit, this has significant weight of fruit. Spice comes behind, but the fruit weight and the alcohol are well in balance. Plump and satisfying, a glycerol rich Chablis for a powerful meat dish. 13.30% alcohol.
