“The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Noyers Brets has also turned out very nicely, revealing aromas ofapple blossom,pearandhazelnuts, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and fleshy palate that’s bright andsaline. (WK) Laurent Pillot’s son Adrien is gradually taking the reins at this 15-hectare estate, and the domaine’s wines continue their qualitative progression. Organic certification begin in 2022. Fruit is now harvested in 13-kilogram trays and refrigerated in a cold room before vatting. Extraction and clarification enzymes have been banished. Reds are destemmed and see long macerations, with punch-downs occurring later on in maceration in the past, while levage has been extended and cooperage choices refined (Tonnellerie Billon is now a favorite). White wines also go to barrel with more lees. If Pillot can continue this evolution, this Chassagne-Montrachet stalwart will soon become a benchmark.”
