James Grant, ‘The Major,’ inherited a distillery from his father in 1872 when he was only 25. At that time, many distilleries in Speyside were producing heavy, oily styles of malt Whiskey. Major Grant’s mission was to create a “single malt as it should be.” He thus applied his unconventional and forward-thinking vision to the design of the innovative tall slender pot stills and unique purifiers to create a light, delicate single malt Scotch Whiskey. Glen Grant Single Malt Scotch Whiskies have garnered a Double Gold from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and the Chairman’s Trophy from the Ultimate Spirits Competition.
