A Japanese single malt from Kurayoshi Distillery, Matsui Sakura has been matured in casks made from cherry wood and featuring artwork by Kikukawa Eizan on the label, entitled “Beauty in the Cherry Blossom Garden”. Aromas of cherry blossom, almonds, orange and melon fill the nose, complemented by notes of baking spices, orange zest, malt, vanilla sponge, honeysuckle and more cherry blossom throughout the palate.

Tasting Notes:

“This expression is aged in ex-bourbon barrels before being transferred to American white oak barrels that have had the heads swapped out for Sakura oak heads for the final months of maturation.Sakura, most commonly known as cherry blossom, are Japanese ornamental cherry trees which are famous for their spectacular blooms of fragrant flower blossoms. An incredibly bright nose of strawberry and red apple is grounded by earthy aromas of minerals, wet clay, and young wood. The palate is fruity and floral, with apple notes leading subtle cacao, vanilla, cherry blossom, and oak tannins. Non-chill filtered.”
